All the Details

Living in a new country is difficult, but learning the language of the new country is even harder. We know and understand this.

In fact, many of our English Language Development (ELD) teachers have gone through the same exact thing: moving to a new country, finding a job, filling out paperwork, getting insurance, figuring out the transportation system, and, all the while, trying to learn a new language. We understand how hard even the most simple of tasks can be when you do not speak the language of the country you are in.

That is why our ELD program at Highlands is student-centered, communicative, and focused on life skills. First and foremost, we want you to be able to function comfortably in the United States. Then we want to help you find the job of your dreams, so that you can create a beautiful life for yourself and your family here. You see, really, we want the same things you do – for you to be fulfilled and successful. Nothing makes us happier.

We have ELD classes throughout the greater Sacramento area, and at some locations we have leveled classes from Pre-Literacy to Advanced. Most of our classes are 8:30 a.m. – 12:30 p.m., Monday through Friday. Although at some locations we offer classes in the evening, 5:00 p.m. – 9:00 p.m. and afternoon classes from 1 p.m. – 5 p.m.

If you are interested in studying at the main campus, please attend the New Student Orientation. This is held every Thursday at 8:30 a.m. – 2 p.m. You will be introduced to our program and take a placement test on this day.
