Student reading a book in class

Hello!

Hello! My name is Sarah Kraemer and I am an English teacher. I'm a graduate of CSU Sacramento and I've been teaching for over six years now. In that time, I've taught students of all levels from a variety of different backgrounds.

I think it's incredibly important to create a class environment where students feel welcome and where they feel and heard. It is my belief that students learn best when they feel included, safe, and valued and when the content they are being taught are both meaningful and relevant to them as individuals.

Anyone who has been in my class knows a thing or two about me. They know that I run on caffeine and at some point I will probably bring up my dogs and tell a small anecdote about some mischief they've been up to. It's also usually pretty clear right off the bat how much I love art, donuts, pineapples, and a particular fictional character named Pesci. The other thing that I hope is apparent to my students, though, is how much I love my class and how my class is more than a class. It's a community that I have the privilege of serving and it's one in which people and friendships grow and look out for one another. It's a home away from home for both them and for me.
