Teaching background:
I am an English language teacher at Highlands Community Charter School. I have my Master of Science in Education with a concentration in Online Teaching and Learning from CSU East Bay. I have been teaching English at various sites and locations since 2016. I first started teaching English when I moved abroad to a relatively small city outside of Shanghai, China. After I moved back to the United States, I worked with a partner nonprofit of Highlands, called Bach Viet. That's where I first learned of Highlands. I liked everything that I heard about Highlands and so eventually I started to teach at Highlands.
I have taught a variety of levels ranging from literacy level to advanced English learners. I love to learn and I believe that lifelong learning is the best way to keep life interesting and it opens yourself up to more opportunities. I am excited to work with students who are interested in continuing their learning journey.
I currently teach evening classes in West Sacramento at our Holy Cross site. I teach every level starting from level 0 to High School.
Outside of teaching:
I like to stay active. I really enjoy running. I have done a number of races up to a half marathon and one day I hope to do a full marathon. But my favorite thing is being able to run multiple times a week. I also enjoy swimming, biking, yoga, and hiking.
I like to cook as well, and as a relatively new vegetarian I am enjoying exploring new recipes for foods that fit my diet. Let me know if you have any suggestions! 😁
