About Me...

My name is Daniel Perez and I have been teaching at Highlands since 2016. I teach high school in the evening on our Grand Avenue Campus. I attended UC Davis to study Biomedical Engineering from 2007-2011. I realized in college that my favorite part of my classes was leading and tutoring other students. Speaking Spanish has helped me communicate with my students who come from all over the world. I also know a little Japanese since I spent 6 months in Tohoku studying abroad in 2008.

I enjoy teaching all subjects but have a special passion for math and science. I know that math can cause anxiety and hold students back from graduation. My job is to break it down, make it easy, and get you to remember it. It helps that I have a great group of students that are focused on graduation. I use the Socratic method and encourage student-lead participation in my classroom. In my free time, I like playing with my dog Winston and going for runs. I try to visit my grandparents in Muriedas, Spain every summer.
